While using insulin in pen devices, should it be refrigerated?

The pen devices which are commonly used include Novopen 3, Novomix, Novorapid, Lantus Optiset etc.Once the patient start using the disposable pen or a catridge, it need not be and in some cases should not be refrigerated. However unused catridges and pens should be kept inside the door of the refrigerator. Insulins should not be kept in the freezer compartment. The ideal temperature is between 2 degree celcius and 8 degree celcius.
