The 125th Diabetes awareness camp turned out to be a mega event at VJT

Trivandrum . Dr.B.Ekbal (Retd Professor of Neuro Surgery ) and Former Vice
Chancellor, Kerala University inaugurated the program. The program was
totally free for all the 152 participants. Registration was done through
the
telephone numbers which appeared in the newspapers a week ago. Since it
was
not a
treatment camp, but only an awareness generation camp, the general public
and patients who attended the
talks were all genuinely interested in knowing more about their illnesses.
Dr.Ekbal released the Diabscreen Health Card, which consisted of 10
important
guidelines for adopting healthy living styles.
Dr.Ekbal said that Dr.Jothydev needs very special appreciation
for such a mass awareness campaign without financial aid from any
government
or other
agencies. Dr.Thomas Mathew welcomed the gathering. This camp is being
organized every year on June 8th in memory of Shri.Vazhuthacaud Babu, a
well
known artist who died of diabetes related complications.
Dr.Abhilash.B.Jacob, noted dental surgeon and Director of Omega Dental
Care,
in his interactive lecture gave directions on how to take care of the gums
and the teeth. He outlined the necessity for
periodic dental check up and cleaning. Dr.Shabeer A.Rasheed spoke on foot
care methods and preventing injuries. Dr.Sameer Badarudeen from Chicago
gave
a special lecture.
Shri.Pradeep Kannammola and Jayasreelally were the chief
