The 8th Kesavadev Awards were presented at an auspicious function held at Symphony Hall, Mascot Hotel on 8th Aug 2012 by Hon. Minister for Social Welfare Dr. M.K.Muneer. The annual Kesavadev Awards are given in proud memory of P.Kesavadev, the renowned novelist and social reformer of Kerala. Kesavadev Literary Award was presented to Sri.P.Govinda Pillai, veteran Communist Party of India leader and ideologue. The Diabscreen Kerala Kesavadev Award was presented to Mr. Santhosh Sisupal, Editor, Manorama �Arogyam� for his health related article �Ee Verpaadukal Parayunnath�. Dr. Muneer announced the Government initiative to raise a statue of P.Kesavadev at Poojapura which was well received by the elated crowd. Ms. Seethalekshmi Dev chaired the function while Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev addressed the audience. The welcome speech by Dr.George Onakkoor was followed by Kesavadev commemoration speech by Jnanapeed Award laureate Padmavibhooshan Prof. O.N.V .Kurup. Felicitations were given by Dr. Paul Sebastian (Director, Regional cancer Centre) and Shri, V.Sivankutty MLA. Votes of Thanks were given by Ms. Sunitha Jothydev. Ms. Surabhi compared the function and Mr. Vinu Krishnan coordinated the event.
