Free Diabscreen Kerala Diabetes screening, awareness and detection camp was organized by P.Kesavadev Trust in conjunction with Mannarkad Rural Cooperative Bank at Palakkad on 17 Dec 2011. The camp was attended by more than 300 patients, one among the biggest ever conducted by Kesavadev Trust. (The organiser Shri.Purushothaman had hard time restricting the numbers) Anthropometric measurements and laboratory investigations including Fasting blood glucose, cholesterol etc. were performed. Gopikakrishnan Head of Operations, Research reported majority of subjects screened with unacceptably high lab values: calling for immediate interventions. Dr.Jothydev during his interactive lecture, stressed on the importance of performing laboratory investigations in quality controlled laboratories and the need for awareness about the complications of diabetes. The lecture was followed by question answer session by the patients which lasted for 1 hour. Free breakfast and lunch were provided to the patients.

Dr. Jothydev gave medical advice to around 100 patients and free medicines were also distributed. The camp was inaugurated by former Deputy Speaker Mr. Jose Baby. The Bank President Mr.T.R.Sebastian chaired the camp. Bank Secretary Mr. M. Purushothaman and Aneesh Kumar(JDC) co-ordinated the camp.
