28 July 2011: Diabscreen Kerala Free Screening Camp,Collectorate, Cochin Free diabetes screening camp was conducted at the Collectorate, Kakkanad, Cochin by P.Kesavadev Trust in association with the Collectorate Staff Council. Nearly 160 Collectorate employees attended and were screened for sugar, cholesterol and HbA1c along with anthropometric measurements. Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev lectured for an hour on the significance of preventing diabetes and its complications The informative tips on the normal ranges of the lab parameters were well received and questions were answered in detail by Dr. Jothydev. Dietician Ms. Neethu Annie Ajai discussed on the importance of lifestyle modifications and diet in diabetes prevention. 34% of the attendees were found to be pre-diabetic and 47% were found to have high lipid levels. The District Collector P.I.Sheikh Parid inaugurated the camp and Medical Officer R. Sudhakaran presided over the session. Johnson IAS was the guest.
